The family history can be traced back to Pedrosa de Duero, in Burgos. In this little village, Doroteo Rodero owned a small vineyard, working alongside his son Paco to grow the native Tempranillo variety. Back in the 14th century, the family vineyard belonged to the village priests, as payment for saying mass and prayers. This was the start of the family's adventure. Husband and wife team Paco Rodero

recovered this and other vineyards in the area to supply grapes to the first Ribera del Duero wineries.
Years later, and with extensive wine-producing experience, they decided to set up the Pago de los Capellanes winery
, processing fruit from their own vines for the first time in 1996. Since then, our family’s mission has been to express our landscape through wines that are hand crafted, complex and with a long life ahead of them, conceived to be enjoyed.
Vineyard, family, tradition and dreams are the main themes in this story we want to share with you.
Our ethos is based on respect for both land and tradition, working our vineyards on the principle of micro parcelling according to soil composition and characteristics. Based on this study, we practice precision wine growing that responds to the diversity of soils, weather and other conditions.
The Rodero Villa family's
determination to improve and their passion for authenticity was the driving force behind a new venture. After years devoted to earning an excellent reputation based on top quality, we started to think about creating a white wine that was loyal to our philosophy and to our quest for the unique and the special, for complex and intense wines with a long shelf life.
To do this, we opted for the Valdeorras Designation of Origin in Galicia, setting up the O Luar do Sil winery
in the town of Seadur, in Ourense. This is where we make our white wines using the Godello native variety, the treasure of this traditional region.
